Marcelo B. “Rey” Cabalag, 81, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at his home. Born in Nasugbu Batangas, Philippines, he was the son of the late Emilio and Bonifacia Cabalag.
He retired as a PO1 from the U. S. Navy after 22 years of service. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Leila C. Crish, and her husband, Anthony, and Jeanne L. Carozza, and her husband, Stephen, both of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Kevin, Megan, Sean and Jasmine; and three sisters, Coring Dela Vega, Lilia Cabalag and Sr. Aida Cabalag.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Lee Yoakam, O.S.B. A private interment will be held in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
