Catherine Anna Eichhorn, 89, died July 5, 2016, in an Abingdon, Va., hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Martin and Catherine Schumacher Vaeth and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arnold F. Eichhorn.
Catherine was a native of Norfolk, Va., and resided in Chesapeake for 25 years before moving to Abingdon to live with her daughter. She retired after spending 40 years as a school bus driver with Chartered Bus Service and the City of Virginia Beach School system.
She was a Roman Catholic and a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. She also was a Sultana with Padul Caravan # 69, International Order of the Alhambra and the Knights of Columbus 10601 Ladies Auxiliary. Catherine worked many years with the Women’s club at St Matthew’s and Meals On Wheels (Chesapeake). She was also an active mall walker at Greenbrier Mall.
Survivors include her children, Catherine (Marie) Horton (Gardner), Arnold F. Eichhorn Jr. (Toni), Barbara A. Nero, Mary C. Leland (Wayne); seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 10, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 1416 Cedar Road, Chesapeake Va. A funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Father John Abe at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016, at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
