Helen “Carol” Moon, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 30, 2016, after a valiant and courageous fight with lung cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through the grueling years of treatments and chemotherapy. Throughout her own struggle with cancer, she remained the caring, giving, helping woman she always had been.

Carol was instrumental in the establishment of the Golden Slippers Dance Academy 35 years ago. She continued to be the “heart and soul” of the dance studio, working until the very end.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Clara Winfrey and Guy E. Daugherty; and her beloved grandmother, Helen “Granny” Daugherty. She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Charles F. “Chick” Moon, Jr.; daughters, Tamara Silverman, Theresa Hillegas (Duane) and Helen Katherine Moon; her granddaughters, Clara, Cora and Isabella Silverman, and her grandson, Bryce Hillegas.
