‘Buena’ Hosena Zareno, 74, devout Catholic who enjoyed live music and traveling

“Buena” Hosena Zareno, 74, passed away on January 7, 2016. She was born in Cuenca, Batangas, Philippines to the late Bonifacio and Epipania Hosena. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Judy Zareno.

Buena was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and involved in The Legion of Mary – Tidewater. She also enjoyed walking on the beach, listening to live music and traveling.

Buena was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of over 45 years, Antonio T. Zareno; children, John Zareno and wife Dayna, James Zareno, and Jessica Zareno and husband Kees Boogaart; grandchildren, Stephen, Taylor, Megan, and Nikolas; along with extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. with a wake service on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
