Aimée Laura Simon, 40, passed away at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital on January 7, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.

A beloved wife and mother, her love of children grew beyond her own and gave her the passion to be a bus driver for the City of Virginia Beach Public Schools for over 7 years. Aimee woke up every morning looking forward to sharing her love and generosity with everyone fortunate enough to be a part of her life.

She will always be remembered for her handmade artistic creations, her creative cooking, her ability to bring people together and her powerful personality. Not a day will go by where her beautiful art won’t be a presence in her family and friends’ homes and bring a smile to their face.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband and best friend of 20 years, Gary, her children, Gary III and Kennedy; as well as her parents, Leonard and Victoria Sanborn; brothers, Christopher and Justin; in-laws, Gary and Deborah Simon; along with a large group of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 13th, 2016. The burial will follow at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
