Bessie F. ‘Bettie’ Baxter, 56, devout Christian with memorable smile who made crafts

Bessie F. ‘Bettie’ Baxter, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2015, into the loving arms of Jesus. Bettie was surrounded by her husband of 56 years, Terry; children, Mike, Virginia, and Stephen.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one on the way. Bettie was born on August 4, 1940 in Norfolk, VA, to the late Richard and Ruby Flora.

She was a devout Christian and a member of Thalia UMC, as well as a member of Searchers Sunday School Class. In her younger years she was involved in crafts, such as cake decorating, flower arrangements, and jewelry making. Bettie will be remembered for her wonderful smile and her friendly personality.

A memorial service was held at Thalia UMC on December 31, 2015, with Rev. Elinor Dalton officiating, followed by a reception. The burial will be private at a later date. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
