Alton L. Carver passed away at Chesapeake General Hospital on November 22, 2015 surrounded by family. He was 72.
Mr. Carver was born May 11, 1943 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to his parents, Wilbur Donald Carver and Bennie Louise Carver. Mr. Carver joined the Navy in 1961 and served five years working on nuclear submarines and was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1968. After the Navy Mr. Carver attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in Architecture in 1974. He married Patricia Ann Carver on March 20, 1965 and have been married for over 50 years. Mr. Carver had a successful career of over 41 years as an architect and due to his passion was only semi-retired working on projects with Church Development Services.
Mr.Carver was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies included photography, carpentry and helping others. Mr. Carver had a strong faith in GOD and had been attending Grace Presbyterian Church and was part of the original launch team for their church plant.
Mr.Carver is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Carver, daughters Christine Ann Cahoon and Karen Elizabeth Dunn, son Brian Thomas Carver, son-in-law Christopher Ryan Dunn and six grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Service, on Saturday, December 5, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1552 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There will be light refreshments, in the Fellowship Hall, after the service.
