Betty L. Butt, 95, always willing to lend a hand, devoted life to caring for her family as a homemaker

Betty L. Butt, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on November 28, 2015.

Born in Princess Anne County on November 12, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Linwood Land and Sadie Ellen Ferrell. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton L. Butt, Daughter Ellen R. Large, brothers, James E. Land, SR, Fletcher E. Land and a sister, Blanch L. McClellan.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Sabourin (Bill), Judy Stevens (Ricky), Virginia Spruill (Chris), one brother Thomas L. Land, JR, eleven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Zulekia Court #35 – Ladies Shrine and attended Virginia Beach Community Chapel. Betty devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A graveside service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Park on Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
