Belisa ‘Mami’ I. Benjumea, 81, a true sports aficionado who found great pleasure in food, music and dancing

On the morning of November 28, 2015, Belisa “Mami” I. Benjumea, a long-time resident of Virginia Beach, VA passed away of natural causes at the age of 81. She was currently residing with daughter, Beverly. Belisa was predeceased by her devoted husband, Wayne S. Henderson. Born in Monteria, Colombia, South America, she was the daughter of the late José Mariá Macea and Carolina Diaz.

Belisa cherished family gatherings, truly embraced her friends, found great pleasure in food, music and dancing. She was a true sports aficionado. Laughter was her song, a melody we’ll miss.

She is survived by her eight children, Marina, Belisa, Beverly, José, Carlos, Jimmy, Alfredo and Tony; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel. After the service, family will receive friends at 2225 Elder Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
