Mary Jane Stoecklein, 94, hosted international dignitaries, scored a hole-in-one

Mary Jane Stoecklein, 94, passed away on November 19, 2015. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she enjoyed a most incredible life of 61 years with her husband Rear Admiral Herbert George Stoecklein, MC, USN, who preceded her in death.

A dedicated Navy wife, Jane accompanied her husband through numerous moves, spanning 32 years of Naval service. She was a constant support throughout her husband’s Naval career, while raising her children to become wonderful, productive adults, and always maintaining a warm and welcoming home. Jane and Herb hosted national and international dignitaries throughout the Nixon – Bush Presidential era. They retired in San Diego, CA and traveled the world with family and many of their closest friends. In her final years, she chose to live in Virginia Beach with her daughter, Barbara.

Jane was quite the golfer, having scored a hole-in-one at Elizabeth Manor Country Club. She was wonderfully open minded and unconditionally accepting of those that came into her life, extending warmth, compassion, and a caring concern for all. Her life joys were her children, grandchildren, and her many friends.

Jane is survived by her sons, Ronald Stoecklein and Donald Stoecklein and wife, Deborah; her daughter, Barbara Viola and husband, Albie; her five grandchildren, Gisela, Lauren and Patrick, Hannah and Brianna; and three great grandchildren, Gianna, Roland, and Layla Mary Jane.

A memorial service was held at H. D. Oliver’s Laskin Road Chapel on November 24, 2015. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C. at a later date. Online condolences may be made at hdoliver.com.
