James A. Beasley, Jr., of Virginia Beach, died Nov. 6, 2015, at the age of 94.
He was born in Norfolk on July 16, 1921, and lived most of his life in Virginia Beach. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute, graduating with his class of 1944. During World War II he served with the Army engineers. For 27 years he was associated with Tidewater Supply Co. in Norfolk.
Over many years he was very active in his church and Sunday school at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends at the Princess Anne Country Club and was very active in the Virginia Beach Sports Club. He was a past member and supporter of the auxiliary at Virginia Beach General Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lee Harris Beasley.
He is survived by his daughter, Esther Vaughan, of Virginia Beach; a granddaughter, LeeAnne Morton and her husband Terry, of Virginia Beach; a granddaughter, Jamie, who is presently living in the country of Bhutan; two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Lyla James, of Virginia Beach; a sister-in-law, Ann Beasley, of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts. on Laskin Road. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church on 19th Street.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Virginia Beach United Methodist Church or to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad.
