Frederick W. Kunzinger, 90, remembered as a role model for devotion, commitment and humor

Frederick W. Kunzinger, of Virginia Beach, died Oct. 21, 2015, at the age of 90.

He is survived by Joan, his loving wife of 63 years; daughter, Cathy Kunzinger Urwin (Gregory), of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; son, Frederick (Jeannie), of Seabrook, Texas; and son, Robert (Mary Louise), of Deltaville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Edward and Lucy Kunzinger, he was the third child of the family. His siblings include Edward, Howard, Joan Litwin, Phyllis Kunzinger and the late Audrey Burton.

Fred was a stock broker and equity trader with Smith Barney on Wall Street, finishing his career more than 20 years ago as an executive with Scott and Stringfellow in Norfolk, Virginia. During his retirement he spent his time with his two great passions: golf and family. He was an avid sports fan and a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.

Fred focused on his family his entire life. From building a home on Long Island, New York, to family vacations and get-togethers, he was happiest when surrounded by his siblings and children. His integrity at work, his devotion and commitment at home and his sense of humor made Fred a role model for everyone who knew him.
