Virginia Beach declares state of emergency

Acting Virginia Beach City Manager Tom Leahy issued a declaration of local emergency for the City of Virginia Beach Friday to activate the Emergency Operations Center/Joint Information Center and allow the City to access resources reserved for emergency response, according to a press release. The City Council will consider the declaration at its next meeting.

City Council and other Official City Meetings
The city Council says it plans to continue with its current meeting schedule. The meetings can be viewed on VBTV (Cox channel 48 & Verizon channel 45), online at www.VBgov.com and on Facebook.com/CityofVaBeach.

If you have to attend a meeting because you are a petitioner or are required to speak on a scheduled agenda item, the City encourages residents to follow the CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of this virus.
