Two gun proposals move forward in senate

Two previously rejected gun proposals are moving forward in the Virginia Senate.

The chamber approved a bill Wednesday that requires gun owners to report a stolen firearm within a 48-hour window.

The second proposal results in a penalty increase for recklessly leaving a loaded gun in a childs reach.

Governor Northam originally sought to make the charge a felony, but lawmakers changed it to a class one misdemeanor.
