NORFOLK — Greater Emmanuel Ministries (GEM Norfolk) has teamed up with the city and the Redevelopment and Housing Authority to host a back to school festival.

The free event will be on Aug. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Huntersville Park.

This year’s theme is “Reaching” and the goal is to ensure that every resident is aware of the resources and services the city has to offer to aid in a healthy and successful lifestyle, officials said in the Facebook page event.

The community is invited to enjoy live music, kids activities, raffles, food, visit more than 25 community resource tables, explore a display of city vehicles and grab free goodie bags filled with hygiene products for students and entertainment suitable for all ages.

Representatives from college admissions offices, employment opportunities, and health insurance representatives are just a few of the community resources available at this year’s festival.
