VIRGINIA BEACH — The renovations to Princess Anne Area Library that started back on Jan. 21 have lasted a bit beyond the six-month timeframe initially estimated.

Library officials reported that minor construction delays will likely require the building to remain closed beyond July.

“We still hope to reopen the building this summer and will announce a reopening date as soon as we can,” officials stated via Twitter.

Patrons can either visit one of the city’s other libraries or go to the PA Express Library which has been operating at the Princess Anne Rec Center during the library’s closure.

The services at the rec center’s PA Express Library are as follows:

  • Holds pick-ups and returns
  • Library card registrations
  • Phone assistance
  • Summer Reading Challenge prize pick-ups (except for gift cards)
  • Some library programming

They cannot, however, accept material returns or offer Inter Library Loan, public internet or copier services.

Residents are asked to return library materials to any library location.
