Cemeteriescape: It’s all about history, art, architecture of Norfolk’s municipal cemeteries

NORFOLK — The Norfolk Society for Cemetery Conservation will unveil the winners of the 2019 Cemeteriescape photo contest with a reception at the Slover Library.

It will be on May 21 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Cemeteriescape photo contest was designed to create awareness of the history, art, architecture and cultural landscape within the city’s historic municipal cemeteries.

Funds raised from the contest will go toward conservation projects within the city’s historical municipal cemeteries.

The 2019 contest judges are two photographers, Beth Austin and Philip Shucet.

Austin has been published in various publications including Hardcore Norfolk, AltDaily, Rock Voltage Magazine, AXS, Encore Magazine, Whurk Magazine, GayRVA, OutLife757, Sinister Wisdom and The Nation.
