NORFOLK — Hope House Foundation will host the 35th Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival from May 18 to May 19 at the Stockley Gardens Park on the corner of Stockley Gardens and Olney Road.

The free, two-day event will feature 125-plus artists, musicians and food vendors in the city’s Ghent neighborhood.

The Stockley Gardens Spring Arts Festival takes place May 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from noon to 5 p.m. on May 19.

Stockley Gardens Arts Festival has been named as one of the top two outdoor art festivals in Eastern Virginia by Virginia Living Magazine readers for six years, officials said in a news release.

The event has drawn more than 50,000 visitors in past years, according to the Hope House Foundation website.

Organizers are hoping this year’s event to bring in 15,000-20,000 people.

The money raised during the event helps pay for housing, transportation medical care, and more for people with developmental disabilities, officials said.

Each year, a nationally recognized artist or curator judges the artists, who compete for cash prizes, officials said.

There is also an Emerging Artist Competition, also with cash prizes, for college and high school students, as well as recent graduates.

Award winners are announced during the Artists’ Receptio on the Main Stage.
