VIRGINIA BEACH — The Atlantic Shores’ Senior Summer Camp program will return this year at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts.

The Atlantic Shores’ Senior Summer Camp program is a weekly dance series that will span from June 3 to Aug. 26 and is broken up into two six-week sessions, according to the Sandler Center.

This year’s program will feature two classes from noon to 1 p.m. and 1:15 to 2:15 p.m.

The program kicks off with an open house on May 16 at noon — participants can interact with sponsors and dancing instructors while registering for the program.

Dates for the first six-week session are June 3, 10, and 17; and July 1, 8, 15. Dates for the second six-week session are July 22 and 29; and Aug. 5, 12, 19, and 26, according to the Sandler Center.

The program is sponsored by Atlantic Shores and the Sandler Center Foundation. The Atlantic Shores’ Senior Summer Camp is a free dance class for seniors 55 years and older. It’s led by Marquita Bianca, one of Hampton Roads’ most renowned dance instructors and owner of BailaFuzion Dance Company in Virginia Beach, officials said.

Participants in the program will learn ballroom, Latin, cultural, line dances, and more throughout the two six-week sessions.

The Sandler Center’s Education and Outreach Program has been designed to provide unique opportunities for Hampton Roads seniors to interact and learn about the arts.

Programs have included Dancing with the Seniors, exclusive preshow meet-and-greet opportunities, and master classes with performing artists.
