VIRGINIA BEACH — Lidls across the nation will be hosting sensory evenings in their stores every Thursday for the month of April starting April 11.
The sensory evenings are in honor of Autism Awareness Month, officials said, and will run from 6 p.m. to close on each Thursday of the month.
The evenings will feature reduced lighting, noise, music and in-store announcement, lowered scan volumes at checkout lanes, priority checkouts and fun store maps for kids to help their customers with autism enjoy a more pleasant shopping experience, officials said.

In addition to the sensory evenings, Lidl is also teaming up with Bean and the Autism Society to launch a limited-edition peanut butter.
The store will donate 10 cents of every jar of the peanut butter to the Autism Society, whose mission is to improve the lives of all affected by autism in the United States, officials said.
Customers who buy a limited-edition jar are encouraged to tag @LidlUS and use #LidlBeanutButter to show their support.
