VIRGINIA BEACH — Public Works here said traffic signal construction work will begin Monday (March 25) at the intersection of 19th Street and Atlantic Avenue.

Work at the intersection will be from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, excluding weekends and special events. There will be a temporary lane closure on 19th Street and Atlantic Avenue — the 19th Street lane closure will be for left turns and through traffic at the intersection, according to a news release from the city.

The Atlantic Avenue lane closure will be for both northbound and southbound — left turns and through traffic for both will be restricted. All scheduled work is weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by April 11.

The road closures at 19th Street are in addition to closures at 17th Street and Atlantic. Signal work at that intersection is slated to be complete March 28, according to a news release from the city. Between Monday and Thursday, both intersections will likely produce traffic delays, congestion, and construction noise.

Warning signs will be clearly posted advising motorists of lane closures, according to the news release.

Motorists are urged to use alternate traffic routes whenever possible.
