NORFOLK — The North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s Allied Command Transformation, in collaboration with the Norfolk NATO Festival and Bold Mariner Brewing Company, will start the brewing process of a new German-style Hefeweizen Thursday (March 21).

The new brew was created in honor of the 2019 Norfolk NATO Festival, officials wrote in a news release.

To help kick off the brewing process will be the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Adm. Manfred Nielson from the German Navy who will work alongside the brewing team to lift large bags of malts and hops into one of the brewery’s boiler kettles.

The new Hefeweizen will be unveiled and available to taste during the Norfolk NATO Festival in Town Point Park on April 27.
