NORFOLK — The locally-owned small business known as Vessel Craft Coffee will be opening its second location in City Hall, offering food and drink services.
Sarah Cowherd, co-owner of Vessel Craft Coffee attributes the move to the successful growth they’ve been able to attain while participating in Selden Market’s incubator program.
By having its first location and roastery in Selden Market Vessel Craft Coffee was able to grow its brand a lot faster because of the short leases and low rent Selden Market was able to offer the business, Cowherd said.
Opening a second location was the next logical move for Vessel Craft, and it seemed like a really good opportunity for both the business and City Hall.
Until now, City Hall employees didn’t have anywhere they could get food and drink for lunch without actually leaving the building, Cowherd said.
The coffee shop will also open its first Espresso Bar along with offering more food options.
The Selden Market location has a commercial kitchen the coffee shop shares with other tenants so all of the food will be made there and then transported to City Hall, she said.
Cowherd doesn’t foresee any issues with transporting the food as of right now given that the two locations are very close to each other.
The move will also open up the need for employing more baristas to man both locations, but Cowherd said there are a lot of operational details they still need to work out.
“We are excited to provide something for the people who work so hard for this city,” she said.
Vessel Craft Coffee is anticipating opening at the end of March 2019.
