NORFOLK — The Nauticus Pier is getting a face-lift in the form of a new boardwalk, set to open in June.
That means the current boardwalk will be closed for construction.
The portion of the Elizabeth River Trail included in the boardwalk, which runs up against the Wisconsin, will be closed.
Bicyclists and pedestrians will have to take a detour.
The trail detour will run along Boush Street and then make a left onto Brooke Avenue, joining up again with the Elizabeth River Trail at the intersection of Harbour Street and Brooke Avenue.

There will be alternate route signs posted during the upgrade and people should keep an eye out on the Downtown Norfolk Facebook page for updates on the reopening in June.
