VIRGINIA BEACH — The first Friday of every month is a time for cities to pull together special activities for their residents to experience and the ViBe District has a packed schedule of things to do this Jan. 4 for their First Friday of the year.
Starting at 9 a.m. you can check out The Runnymede Corporation Galleries in the Towne Pavilion and browse through six floors of eclectic art by Russell Voelker.
The event goes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has free onsite parking.
The Virginia MOCA also has a 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. deal, Satellite Gallery at The Runnymede Corporation Galleries in Pavilion II dedicated to Waterways.
Waterways celebrates the work of six artists as they explore the environment, social, cultural and imaginative qualities of this vital resource.
At noon you can go check out the Chesapeake Bay Distillery until 7 p.m. where there will be locally made, award-winning vodka and rum tastings plus local artwork on display in the tasting room.
From 5 to 9 p.m. you can check out Croc’s 19th Street Bistro for a Friday ViBes Happy Hour or Esoteric where they’ll have some artists set up in Tenant E for you to check out after grabbing food and drinks.
If grabbing a late bite to eat is more your style, the Prosperity Kitchen and Pantry will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. with fresh pizzas and cold drinks.
From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. there will be a First Friday Art in the Dark Mural Tour. The tour is free as well as parking. Donations to the ViBe District are welcome.
