NORFOLK — Starting Wednesday, gingerbread house masterpieces will be up for auction, with proceeds benefiting the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.

The culinary arts student-made gingerbread houses will be on display Wednesday and Thursday from 1-5 p.m. in the Walker Building of TCC’s Norfolk Campus. TCC asks that you email news@tcc.edu to register your visit.

Once you spot a house that you have to have, email Sarah DiCalogero at sdicalogero@tccu.edu to make your bid. The houses will be available for pickup on Friday.

The houses are the extra sweet final exam for Chef Karin Grice’s Introduction to Baking class.

“We encourage students to let their creativity shine with this project,” Grice said in a news release. “It’s about taking what we’ve learned and adding that personal touch.”

Aspiring pastry chef Jessica Martinson spent nine hours making a template and 3D model before even beginning to create her house.

“It’s been amazing to bring my idea to life,” she said.
