Norfolk Admirals fire president 1 year after hiring him

NORFOLK — A little more than a year after hiring him, the Norfolk Admirals announced they have fired team president Michael Santos.

Santos arrived in Norfolk last November after serving as the director of hockey operations for the Nashville Predators and the assistant general manager for the Florida Panthers. The Admirals are the ECHL affiliate of the Predators.

“The Admirals front office is committed to success on and off the ice; and as such, not all of the decisions that need to be made are easy,” Chief Revenue Officer Trent Ferguson said in a statement. “The time and energy that Michael Santos put forth in the development of the Norfolk Admirals is appreciated and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.”

According to the statement, Ferguson will oversee the daily business operations of the team. Head coach Robbie Ftorek and assistant coach Peter Sidorkiewicz will still manage player personnel.

The Admirals are currently fifth in their division with seven points.
