Kempsville Recreation Center opens with free admission this weekend. Take a look inside.

VIRGINIA BEACH — After construction work caused delays, the city’s first recreation center is opening this week.

The Kempsville Recreation Center will open Thursday at 11 a.m.

It will kick off its grand opening by offering the public free admission to its gym, pool, courts and other features until Sunday July 2.

Southside Daily got a sneak peek inside the 87,116 square-foot building Tuesday.
