Free Oceanfront summer concert series to kick off with The Wailers

VIRGINIA BEACH — Get up, stand up and head over to the Oceanfront for free concerts this summer.

The 2017 Hilton 31st Street Oceanfront Concert Series will kick off on June 20 with a performance by The Wailers.

Formerly known as Bob Marley and The Wailers, the reggae staple has dozens of chart-topping songs. Their biggest hits include “Buffalo Soldier” and “No Woman, No Cry.”

There will be six concerts at the 31st Street Park Stage, ranging from country to alternative rock. There is free general admission to all shows with standing room only. Chairs, blankets, outside food, beverages and coolers are not allowed inside the park.

31st Street Park General Admission and the Sponsor VIP Zone are alcohol-free zones. Coca-Cola products will be available for purchase. The gates for all shows will open at 5 p.m. and shows begin at 7 p.m.

The concert schedule is as follows:

  • June 20: The Wailers
  • July 11: Gin Blossoms
  • July 25: Toad the Wet Sprocket
  • August 1: Matisyahu
  • August 15: The Spin Doctors
  • August 29: LoCash
