The Virginia Beach Crime Solvers Board issued a thank you to the community for anonymous tips that led to the recent arrests of two teenagers charged with multiple shootings.

Two 17-year-old suspects have been charged with first-degree murder use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for shootings that caused several injuries and two deaths. One may also be charged with malicious wounding charges.

Because they are juveniles police have not released their names.

The Crime Solvers board approved undisclosed cash awards, up to $1,000, for the tipsters during its monthly meeting on Friday, Dec. 16.

In the last month, Crime Solvers has approved $1,693 in tipster rewards that led to the arrests of seven individuals on 23 charges.

Last year, Crime Solvers approved a total of 67 rewards worth $15,089.

Established as a nonprofit entity in 1982, Virginia Beach Crime Solvers has paid out nearly $1 million in awards for more than 16,000 solved crimes. All awards are provided through fundraising and donations.
