A $5,000 grant was recently awarded to Bon Secours DePaul Health Foundation by the Dominion Foundation as part of a $1 million competitive grant process across 13 states.

The Bon Secours DePaul Health Foundation, a nonprofit group that manages donations to the Bon Seocurs DePaul Medical Center, was one of more than 300 applicants considered.

The grant will be used to fund a mobile medical vehicle called Care-A-Van, which caters to the Norfolk area. The van offers free primary care to those without insurance and connects people with specialty care and local food banks.

The Care-A-Van’s medical director, Emily Lieb, said the unit assisted more than 1,660 people in Norfolk in 2016.
