Master Deputy Calvin Armstrong was honored at a luncheon Thursday by the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office, the courts and judicial staff for his 40 years of service.

Armstrong took the job Dec. 7 1976, has worked under three sheriffs and is the longest serving employee at the office, according to an NSO press release. Now, he works at the new, consolidated court building as a bailiff for civil matters.

“It’s not often these days that employers can retain employees for decades,” Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe said in the press release. “I’m truly honored to have Master Deputy Armstrong serving the organization and the community at large.”
