The canceled Gay-Straight Alliance educational event at Frank W. Cox High School has been given another chance.

On Monday, Jan. 30, the student-led club will hold an event called “Love is Love: A Celebration of Gay-Straight Alliance” according to a news release from Virginia Beach City Public Schools on Tuesday.

The event, which was originally scheduled for Monday, will start at 6:30 p.m. and will be open to the public.

“Inspiring and motivating students is of the upmost importance to me. I am looking forward to helping my students move forward as they share a message of inclusion to the student body and community,” said Victoria Sachar-Milosevich, GSA sponsor and special education teacher, in the news release.

Students at the high school will also be able to attend an assembly during school hours on Feb. 24, 2017, that will address “diversity and acceptance of all people.” The event will be led by school counselors and will give all students an opportunity to communicate.

“Cox High School supports all students regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, national origin or sexual orientation,”said Cox High School Principal Dr. Randi Riesbeck in the release. “Educating all students in a safe, accepting environment is a priority at our school, and we encourage and applaud our students’ inclusive efforts.”
