Tidewater Community College has announced a new executive director and associate vice president for strategic partnerships at the college’s Center for Military and Veterans Education (CMVE).
Bill Brown brings 24 years of military and higher education experience to the position.
Brown replaces former executive director, Bruce Brunson, who recently retired. Previously, Brown was director of the Military Connection Center at Old Dominion University.
Brown will represent TCC by serving as educational liaison in meetings and strategic projects with military commands across Hampton Roads. About one-third of TCC’s students are military-affiliated.
Before retiring from the U.S. Army in 2014, Brown was deployed to Iraq three times, holding several posts, including lieutenant colonel, U.S. Army liaison officer to NATO European Division, and capability development team chief in the NATO Smart Defense Team.
Originally from Somerville, N.J., Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Lafayette College and a master’s degree in business from Webster University.
