Virginia Beach man pleads guilty to sexually enticing a fake 14-year-old on Craigslist

A 50-year-old local man pleaded guilty Monday to coercion and enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity earlier this year.

In May, John Aragon posted an ad on Craigslist titled “fetish sex with young girl,” and a Virginia Beach Police Department detective responded to it, posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to the statement of facts filed with the plea agreement and other court documents.

After speaking to each other, the conversation became sexually explicit and then a special agent from Homeland Security Investigation took over for the detective.

Aragon left cash under a rock at a local park in exchange for underwear three times, according to officials. He was arrested Aug. 16 at a park after he showed up to meet and sexually engage with the girl, according to a United States Eastern District of Virginia news release.

Aragon was indicted by a federal grand jury Sept. 21 and faces 10 years to life in prison. He will be sentenced Feb. 24, 2017.
