Cox football coach Stachelski suspended for rest of season

southsidedailysportsTHUMBCox’s Bill Stachelski “will no longer serve as head football coach” for the school, according to a letter sent by principal Randi Riesbeck and addressed to “Cox High School Football Families.”

Riesbeck said in the letter that assistant coach Brad Nelson will lead the team for the remainder of the season and playoffs.

Virginia Beach Schools spokeswoman Lauren Nolasco said by phone that Stachelski “has been suspended for the rest of the season.”

Riesbeck’s letter did not include any details about the reason for the decision, only that a “personnel matter” led to the change. The letter said Riesbeck and Stachelski “spoke at length and he has indicated that he understands my decision.”

Cox (6-2) will face Ocean Lakes (8-0) Friday night.
