Meet Dave Twardzik, member of the ODU Basketball Hall of Fame and former NBA player. He is currently a part of the ODU sports radio team and calls all of the men’s basketball games.
Do you have a nickname? What is it?
D: Unfortunately yes, the play-by-play guy in Portland called me Pinball because I would get bounced around like a pinball on the court in the games. A reluctant admission for me.
What is one food that you will not eat?
D: I am not a big Brussels sprout guy.
What was your favorite movie?
D: One of the first movies I saw with my wife, Fiddler on the Roof.
If someone was to give you a gift (money’s no object) what would you want?
D: I am a pretty simple guy, but I am also a car guy. I almost bought an 89 Porsche Speedster once, so that is what I would want.
What is your biggest fear?
D: Something happening to my family.
What is the one quality you admire most in others?
Where is the next place you want to visit?
D: Surprisingly I love to stay in the United States, my wife and I have driven across country about 5 times with no itinerary. I would do that again in a heartbeat.
If you had to pick one place in town to take a tourist, where would it be?
D: We are beach people, I would take them to the North End of Virginia Beach.
Describe your perfect day off.
D: Well I like to play tennis, fish, hunt and ride bikes. Probably riding one of the rails-to-trails bike paths with my wife and family.
