In the early morning of Monday, April 17, 2017, Emily Kathleen Lamm Bryan, 93, passed away at home and went to be with the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, H. Homer Bryan; son, Harry Lowell Bryan; father, mother, two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Bryan Adkins, and her husband, Keith and Lisa Bryan Leavenworth, and her husband, Donn; two grandchildren, Taylor Adkins, and his wife, Mandy and Justin Adkins, and his fiancé, Courtney.

Born in New Bern, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Albert Clemon Lamm and Delia Caroline Lamm. She graduated from New Bern High School and worked at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station. She met her husband on Valentine’s Day and after marriage moved to Norfolk, Va., where she worked for Headquarters Fifth Naval District. But her favorite work was as a wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Norfolk and served as a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Ocean Park Women’s Club and Westminster Chapter of The Eastern Star. She volunteered for the Red Cross and as a Girl Scout leader and was always a room mother at her daughters’ school.

She was such a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone, and always thankful for those who helped her.

The family would like to especially thank Lillian, who was her caregiver and friend, and to all who provided help and support.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Virginia Beach Community Chapel.
