Pamela ‘Teeny’ Hogan Cardona, instrument flight instructor of single engine planes

Pamela Hogan Cardona affectionately known to friends and family as ‘Teeny,’ passed away peacefully at home Thursday, March 9, 2017, after a long illness.

Daughter of Hunter and Mary ‘Pudge’ Payne Hogan, Pam was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed flying, sailing and cooking. She attended Norfolk Catholic High School, The Country Day School in Virginia Beach and Converse College.

She led a glamorous life as a flight attendant for Pan Am Airlines for 13 years, based in Washington, D.C.; London; and Hawaii. Her travels took her around the world, where she made many international friends. Upon returning to Norfolk she received her pilot’s license and was an instrument flight instructor of single engine planes and worked in the cytopathology field.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Efra Cardona; son, Brady McGuire, and his wife, Carrie, of Sacramento, Calif.; cherished dog, Halo; and five sisters, Celia Hogan, Liza Hogan (Bruce Marsden), Hunter ‘Honey’ Hogan (Tony Percival) Mimi Harmon Hogan-Schaible and Jane Batten; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters or the Virginia Beach SPCA.
