William Arthur McNair III, of Virginia Beach, departed this life Monday, April 10, 2017. William was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Jan. 17, 1971, to Rosilyn Henderson Fletcher and the late William A. McNair Jr.

He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, the Rev. Gordon E. Henderson Sr., and paternal grandfather, William A. McNair Sr.

A military child, he received his early education in New York, Philadelphia and Virginia. He graduated from Milton High School in Milton, Fla., where he was a member of the ROTC military program. He joined the U.S. Army in 1989 and served until 1992. William later attended ECPI University, where he studied computer science.

William was an avid football fan (How Bout Dem Boys!) and collector of sports memorabilia. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding and was a self-proclaimed ‘King of the BBQ Grill.’ He had a love for old-school music, and as a teen, was known as ‘Chilly B.’ of the Playboy MC’s, a group of young rappers who performed throughout Northwest Florida.

He is survived by two daughters, Kassandeira L. Perry (Kevin) of Shaw AFB, S.C., and JaKobii R. McNair of Baltimore, whom he shared with former spouse, Johnitha R. McNair of Baltimore; son, Luke Thomas of Midlothian, Va.; mother, Rosilyn Henderson Fletcher of Virginia Beach; two brothers Micol J. McNair (Annagjid) of Beacon, N.Y., and Marcus A. Fletcher of Cranston, R.I.; niece, Cherrell Mima of Beacon, N.Y.; grandmothers, Alberta Henderson of Haymarket, Va., and Mary McNair of Fayetteville, N.C.; as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Beach Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., 4456 Bonney Road, Virginia Beach. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Beach Funeral & Cremation Services Inc.
