Luke Harrison Hill II, 67, traveled the world to surf

Luke Harrison Hill II, 67, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017. He was born in Norfolk June 1, 1949, and was the son of the late David and Susie Hill.

He worked on the family farm in Pungo for most of his life and loved farming with his father and Uncle Walter. Luke was an avid surfer who traveled the world to surf. He loved Costa Rica, where he surfed for many years and lived there for 10 years. He was an outdoorsman in every way and an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved being around nature.

He served his country in the U.S. National Guard, and was one of the first skateboarders in the area that started a skate club at the oceanfront.

Luke was a loving father, brother, good friend who will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, Luke A. Hill of Virginia Beach, and a brother, David Hill of Virginia Beach and several extended family members and close friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at H.D. Oliver funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, April 19, at Nimmo United Methodist Church, 2200 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
