NORFOLK — The Waterside District partnered with the Governor’s School for the Arts to design a new mermaid for the soon-to-open entertainment venue.
Students from the school were asked to submit their designs. Representatives from the Waterside District selected the top four finalists for the community to vote on.
The student who receives the most votes will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship and serve as lead artist on the execution of the design, according to a release.
