Norfolk police establish safe zones for internet transactions throughout city

NORFOLK — Instead of meeting someone you met on the internet anywhere in public to buy something, Norfolk police are establishing safe zones for transactions like these throughout the city.

The Norfolk Police Department have created “E-Commerce Exchange Zones” at each of the organization’s patrol divisions, an area under surveillance all day, according to a news release.

Here’s a list of these zones:

First Patrol Division
Where: 3661 E. Virginia Beach Blvd.
Hours of operations: Lobby open 24 hours, holidays included.

Second Patrol Division
Where: 2500 N. Military Hwy.
Hours of operations: Lobby open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. This patrol division is closed on holidays, but reserved parking is available all day.

Third patrol division
Where: 901 Asbury Ave.
Hours of operations: Lobby open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. This patrol division is closed on holidays, but reserved parking is available all day.

According to the news release, the police prohibit transactions involving firearms, anything illegal, like drugs or stolen property, and large bulky items that could disrupt operations.
