VIRGINIA BEACH — Several people were taken into police custody after shots were fired at the Oceanfront Monday night, police said.

Police say officers responded to the area of 17th Street and Atlantic Avenue around 7:45 p.m. and saw people running away. Police found shell casings at the scene and one gun was recovered, but no one was injured, police said.

Charges have not yet been filed. The incident is under investigation.
