NORFOLK – Ten men have been convicted of crimes related to Operation Riptide on March 1, police said.
The men were arrested about six weeks ago when more than 150 law enforcement officers arrested several people for selling drugs and guns.
Operation Riptide, created by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, started in the fall of 2016 in collaboration with the Norfolk Police Department, Virginia State Police and prosecutors the Virginia Attorney General’s Office. Officers identified more than 30 people in Hampton Roads illegally selling firearms, heroin and other narcotics.
Officers said they recovered more than 50 firearms, about 170 grams of heroin, 65 grams of powder cocaine 290 grams of crack cocaine and a bullet proof vest.
