Marianne Rita DeLaney, 79, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017. Marianne was born in Queens, N.Y., lived most of her life in St. James, N.Y., and moved to Virginia Beach 15 years ago after her retirement.

She was a dedicated member of Church of the Holy Family, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She loved gardening and was a member of the Norfolk Botanical Gardens Volunteer Club, and was very active in her Cape Arbor Community.

Marianne is survived by her five children, Dianne Jones, and her husband, Scott, of Wilton, Conn., Janine Schwartz, and her husband, Bill, of Virginia Beach, Christopher DeLaney, and his partner, Yvonne Sjostrand, of Venice, Calif., Dennis DeLaney, and his wife, Diane, of Winchester, Mass., and John DeLaney, and his wife, Julie, of Stony Brook, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Allie, Olivia, Anna, Holly, Sean and Steven; great-grandson, Solomon; sister-in-law, Mary DeLaney; and a host of extended family members and good friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 10, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Church of the Holy Family. Interment will be held later in St. James, N.Y.
