NORFOLK — Police are investigating three shootings that occurred within 14 hours.
The first shooting occurred Tuesday evening, police said. Around 10 p.m., dispatchers were notified of a man with gunshot wounds in the 1700 block of Melon Street. Police said responding officers found a wounded 22-year-old at the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital and is in critical condition.
Dispatchers were notified of the second shooting around 11 p.m.on Tuesday night. Police responded to the 6200 block of Alexander Street after gunshots were reported in the area. Police said they found a 23-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, who was also taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Police said they do not believe the two shootings are related.
The third shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the 6200 block of Chesapeake Boulevard. The shooting caused surrounding public schools to be placed on a temporary lockdown.
Norfolk police responded to reports of shots fired and found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Police have not determined if this shooting is related to last night’s shooting that occurred on Alexander Street.
