Romeo Abulencia Dismaya, 71, reunited with his beloved wife, Brenda, in heaven Thursday, March 30, 2017, after her recent passing 12 days prior.

Romeo was born on March 8, 1946, in San Fabian, Pangasinan, Philippines, son of former Vice Mayor Vitaliano and Mrs. Lourdes Dismaya. He first met Brenda in their small hometown of San Fabian, where they grew up together as neighbors. Romeo joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 at the age of 19 and served 22 years as a chief machinist mate. After he retired from the Navy in 1987, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years overseeing the electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling for the postal offices in Hampton Roads.

Romeo and Brenda exchanged wedding vows in 1974 in New York City. They celebrated 42 years of marriage together. Romeo and Brenda’s drive was to achieve the American Dream. Together, they have left a legacy of what hard work, true love and unending faith can accomplish.

Romeo is survived by his family, Liza, Robert, Ronald, Charlene, Edgardo, Rocket, Elle, Marley and Macy; and sisters, Mediatrix Sorenson, Corazon Delacruz, Hilda Nussbaum and Visitacion Putman, and their families.

A visitation will be held at from 6-9 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach. A Novena Prayer will be held at 5:30 p.m., prior to visitation. A memorial Mass will be held at noon Tuesday, April 4, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Virginia Beach.
