George P. Dyson, 64, of Virginia Beach, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017, in Chesapeake.

George was raised in Portsmouth, graduated from Virginia Tech in 1974 and worked as a buyer for the Virginia International Terminal – Port of Virginia for 31 years. A local volleyball player and coach for over 30 years, he recently enjoyed playing pickleball.

George was born in Norfolk, Va., and was the son of the late William W. Dyson and Frances Adams Dyson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela R. Dyson.

George is survived by daughters, Amanda N. Jarrett, and her husband, Jonathan, and Whitney Jones, and her husband, Mark; sisters, Noel Brewer, and her husband, Wayne, and Nancy Shaw, and her husband, Jim; and grandchildren, Hudson, Emerson, Cayden, Halia and Lena.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Discover Church, 3232 Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
