VIRGINIA BEACH — Police arrested a local woman Saturday after a road rage incident on I-264 resulted in a stabbing on the side of the interstate, according to state police.
Police say the female victim was traveling eastbound on I-264 when Sara Espinoza, 37, of the 200 block of Olivine Avenue, entered the interstate recklessly in a black SUV.
Both women pulled over on the side of the interstate and had a verbal confrontation, police said. The conversation escalated and police say Espinoza stabbed the victim in the arm with a box cutter.
The victim left the scene, called police around noon and waited for them at a Kangaroo gas station on Rosemont Road.
Police located Espinoza at a 7-Eleven on First Colonial Road and charged her with malicious wounding and driving on a suspended driver’s licence. She is being held without bond.
The victim was treated for her injuries and released.
